Emma Bissonnette is an artist who creates visual narratives and material prayers. Embedded in each of her material prayer paintings is a story of her experience in conversation with God. Oils and pigments substitute her speech and thoughts, while layers of transparency, hidden text, and textural mediums mimic the sincerity of a prayer journal.
Bissonnette earned her B.F.A in Studio Art with a minor in Arts Administration from The University of Texas at Austin. With a concentration in painting and printmaking, Bissonnette’s work has been featured in exhibitions at the Visual Arts Center; Austin, TX, 19zero3; Siena, Italy, and The University of Texas at Austin Halls and Walls Gallery; Austin, TX.
