Inspired by John‬ ‭13‬:‭3‬-‭15, “Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands…rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet… He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?” Jesus answered him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand…When he had washed their feet and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.”

For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me. In pouring this ointment on my body, she has done it to prepare me for burial. Truly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.””

And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.””

These paintings are each based on glaciers I saw while on my honeymoon in Whistler, Canada. Something I love about glaciers is that they move INCREDIBLY slowly, some moving only a few centimeters per year. Glaciers leave behind dramatic, beautiful landscapes that have formed over hundreds if not thousands of years.
The glaciers we saw made me consider how God is not in a hurry to form beautiful things. In our personal development, marriages, friendships, growth- there is no rush to become something wonderful, in fact, it may be by design that these things take time.
