Yet, your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

This painting revisited one of my past works, In His Arms. “He tends the flock like a shepherd; He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart.” Isaiah 40:11
Most shepherds would carry the lamb over their shoulders, yet Jesus carries us near his heart: a place of comfort, security and affection.

Captured, a song by Mark Barlow, has been one of my favorites this year. I love how it articulates the truth that Jesus knows the ways to love us before we even know what to ask for. I’ve found when invite Jesus in, He simply captivates my heart. “You’ve captured my heart in ways I didn’t know I could be captured”

Psalm 107:35 says, “He turns a desert into pools of water, and a dry land into flowing springs.” So often our circumstances feel like walking through desert: confusing, exhausting, lonely. As I painted this work I wondered what would happen if anytime I found myself in a “desert” season, I asked God to transform the dunes ahead of me into the waves of an ocean. What if I let my Provider change my perspective?
