About Emma

Emma Michelle Ary is a full-time attorney and painter based in Austin, Texas. Influenced by storytelling and inspired by her faith, Emma's work blends rich colors, impressionist brushwork and captivating imagery on every canvas.

Emma's work invites viewers to return to childhood wonder and youth-like creativity. In the same way a child admiringly mimics the activities of their parents, Emma paints in admiration and hope to create in the steps of her Creator - the master of creativity and the ultimate caretaker. Emma allows the act of painting to become a time of peaceful meditation where oils and pigments substitute speech and thought, and layers of transparency, hidden text, and textural mediums mimic the sincerity of a prayer journal.

Emma earned her B.F.A in Studio Art with a minor in Arts Administration from The University of Texas at Austin. With a concentration in painting and printmaking, Emma’s work has been featured in exhibitions at the Visual Arts Center; Austin, TX, 19zero3; Siena, Italy, and The University of Texas at Austin Halls and Walls Gallery; Austin, TX.
